The Fields at RFK Campus
Hillis-Carnes provided Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Services for the construction of multipurpose athletic fields, associated ancillary structures, paved areas and storm water management facilities on the Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Stadium Campus. As the first phase of the $500M plan to redevelop the 190-acre RFK Stadium campus, the 27-acre Parking Lot 7 was transformed into a new community activity center. This project included three synthetic turf fields, a 6,000 SF Events Pavilion, two 600 SF maintenance buildings, and a 1,275 SF restroom facility.
The scope of work included the testing and inspections of mass grading/fill placement, utilities, bio-retention facility installation monitoring, spread footings, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, floor flatness and levelness, structural steel, light-gauge structural framing, sprayed fireproofing, and structural load-bearing masonry.
