Merriweather Post Pavilion Phase 3 and 4
Merriweather Post Pavilion underwent a five-year rehabilitation project that began in 2014, intending to revamp the amphitheater and concert-going amenities in Howard County, Maryland. Hillis-Carnes provided Construction Materials Testing & Inspection Services during the renovation since Phase 3 began in 2016.
Phase 3 of this project at Merriweather Post Pavilion included the construction of a new two-level 20,000 SF warehouse and office building that included a box office, retail space, restrooms, and concession stands. Hillis-Carnes performed the testing and inspection of the soils, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and structural steel in accordance with the geotechnical report of the proposed building. During construction, HIllis-Carnes was on site to perform various inspection and observation services during the concrete pours and steel placements.
Hillis-Carnes was on-site to perform testing and observation services during the fast-paced construction Phase 4 of the project, including two new retractable roofs before the start of the concert series. Working in conjunction with Costello Construction, this project was completed in 111 days, with additional improvements to the lighting box and acoustics.
