Project Highlight: Utica District Park
Hillis-Carnes is providing Frederick County with Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Services for Phase II and II-A at Utica District Park in Thurmont, MD. Both Phases of this $10.9 million project include installing, maintaining, and removing sediment control measures, earthwork/mass grading, storm drain structures and pipe, water line extension, construction of park roads and parking lots, standard and porous pavements, and concrete curbs. Phase II also includes a vehicular/pedestrian bridge, electrical system, site and athletic field lighting, two synthetic turf multi-purpose fields with bleachers, press box and electronic scoreboards, addition to the existing maintenance shop, park shelters, playgrounds, site furnishings, signage, fencing, gates, and landscaping. In addition, Phase II-A includes a Covid-19 Memorial, new buildings for a Carpenter Shop and Milk Barn, lighting, a restroom building with a sand mound septic system, a park shelter, site furnishings, signage, fencing, and landscaping.
Hillis-Carnes is providing the Construction Material Testing and Inspection services under the supervision of Project Manager Robert Brown for this project. Our Lead Technicians consist of Pierre Yameogo, Zabihullah Hamidullah, and David Tressler, who are performing an extensive scope of work for both phases, including the testing and inspection of mass grading/fill placement, utilities, stormwater management facilities, bio-retention facility installation monitoring, spread footing foundations, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and pavement.
