Hillis-Carnes Provides Extensive Work for $90 Million Development at 801 N. Orange Street in Wilmington, Delaware
Hillis-Carnes is providing Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Services for a $90 million development (soon to be named The Press) featuring studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments and duplexes across the 1.15-acre site. The project includes a 14-story, high-rise residential tower with a glass and metal façade and amenity spaces at ground level along Orange Street and on the fourth floor. Amenities include an indoor lounge, social dining space, and a roof deck with views of Downtown Wilmington. There will also be an intimate pocket park developed between the tower and duplex program with publicly accessed seating and landscaping. Accompanying the Orange Street tower is a 4-story, brick-clad residential building along 8th Street, with two-story, 3-bedroom duplexes accessible from the sidewalk and two levels of apartment flats above. Future phases include a second residential tower along Tatnall Street and townhomes on Girard Street.
A skilled and experienced crew, working under the supervision of Project Manager Collin Langlois and Principal Engineer David Harmanos, P.E., was deployed to perform the extensive scope of work currently underway for this impressive project. Hillis-Carnes’ scope of work includes the testing and inspections of cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, floor flatness/levelness, post-tensioned un-bonded concrete, structural steel, sprayed fireproofing, and structural load-bearing masonry. The project is on schedule and expected to be complete in Summer 2025.
