New Branch Manager – Ben Gordon, PE
Hillis-Carnes is proud to announce the promotion of Benjamin B. Gordon, PE to Branch Manager of our State College, Pennsylvania office.
Ben joined the firm in 2017 as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and has performed at an exemplary level. Ben has over 19 years of industry experience and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a registered Professional Engineer in 21 states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New York, and Ohio. Major areas of responsibility have included the management of multi-disciplined project teams, senior technical review, geotechnical engineering design, subsurface investigations, drilling management, management of personnel, proposal preparation, and the oversight of projects in both the public and private sectors. Ben’s technical expertise includes the implementation of subsurface exploration programs, retaining structure design, slope stability analyses, post construction/forensic engineering, deep and shallow foundations (including driven piles, micropiles, and drilled shafts), field testing programs, laboratory testing programs, and instrumentation monitoring programs.
His education, management experience, attention to detail, and extensive field and laboratory testing expertise are part of what makes Ben ideal for the Branch Manager position. In his relatively short time with the firm, Ben has played a key role in the success of our State College Branch and will continue to spearhead these efforts.
