Hillis-Carnes Hires Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager
Fekerte A. Yitagesu, Ph.D., has joined our Chantilly, Virginia, office as Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager. Fekerte brings with her over 15 years of experience in various aspects of Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspections, Construction Management, Engineering Geology, and Environmental Engineering.
Fekerte holds a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Twente, Netherlands. Her technical expertise includes performing geotechnical site investigations, deep foundation design, pavement evaluation and design, slope stability assessments, construction materials quality assurance/control (QA/QC), environmental impact and site assessments, and retaining structures, soils, earthworks, and foundations. Fekerte has experience in subsurface drilling operations/borehole logging, engineering geological investigations and mapping, as well as spectroscopy, remote sensing, and geographic information system (GIS) mapping.
Fekerte is an accomplished researcher and has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and authored book chapters. She is also a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Civil Engineering and Construction Science, an American Association of Science and Technology (AASCIT) Journal. We are very excited to have her on board and look forward to the expertise she will be contributing to Hillis-Carnes and our Chantilly branch office!
